Telepresence is a critical aspect of telehealth and telemedicine, creating connection between when there is a lack of physical interaction. This "telepresence valley" must be bridged in order to recreate the feeling of being together in a common place, and thus assuring the highest quality of care for patients.
The menu options above review the utilization of telepresence in telehealth and the benefits and barriers to its use in healthcare systems across the world.
The following videos are meant to give a brief overview of telepresence, the first being a descriptive definition of telepresence and the second an example of telepresence technology by the networking hardware company Cisco.
The Best Practices for Telepresence site is maintained by Hollie Wilson using the myPages at UNH.
