Error Detection and Correction in the Course of Lexical Retrieval in Aphasia

So many of the interventions that SLPs use to treat language and communication disorders are succesful recognize that errors will happen. Those errors can be incredibly informative when evaluating an individual's ability to retrieve words, but ultimately we want to empower them to be able to correct those errors. This project is centered on characterizing the nature of errors, whether a client recognizes when they have made an error (error detection), and how frequently they are able to correct those errors. Ultimately, we believe that understanding the features or patterns of errors and self-correction will inform our intervention approaches.
