Jessica Leach presents iSCORE results at the UNH Undergraduate Research Conference

Jessical Leach, a senior in the UNH Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience and Behavior and CoBALT lab member since 2019, presented her capstone project at the UNH Undergraduate Research Conference on April 23rd. This project is part of the iSCORE study investigating brain networks associate with symtpoms of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in active duty service members. She applied the graph theory metric modularity to examine differences in brain integration/segregation in individuals with mTBI secondary to blast versus non-blast related brain injuries.... Anne O'Donnell presenting her Master's thesis defense on Friday!

Anne O'Donnell has been a member of the CoBALT lab for 2 years and finalizing her role as a graduate student with her thesis defense on April 15th. She has been investigating error detection and correction in individuals with aphasia during an object naming task. She has learned a TON about what errors can indicate about the difficulty that someone has with word retrieval - a signature feature of aphasia. Congrats to Kate Phelps!

Kate Phelps, graduate research assistant in the lab, was awarded the Theo-Steelman Public Service Fellowship in the UNH College of Health and Human Services! This award is for students who are gaining practical experience or are conducting research in the public service sector. This award is in recognition of her current and future work on her master's thesis regarding pro-health behaviors in people with aphasia and post-stroke depression. Congratulations Kate!

Kaila Cote Defends Her Thesis

Kaila successfully defended her thesis on a coordinate-based meta-analysis of artificial grammar learning. This was a big accomplishment and was in collaboration with fabulous CSD faculty member Jill Thorson and University of Sydney faculty member Kirrie Ballard. It also involved the incredibly talented methods chops of our Florida International University colleagues Angie Laird and Michael Riedel.

Jess has been at UNH since she was a freshman and is certainly an accomplished student and now SLP-CF! She defended her thesis on the language and cognitive control network connections in persons with aphasia (PWA) and healthy, age-matched controls, and how those netwrok connection patterns correlated with discourse. It was a great big work and involved our collaborators - CSD faculty member Kathryn Greenslade and University of Sydney professor Kirrie Ballard. Way to go Jess!
