In 1968 Dan was commissioned by David B. Morgan Jr., owner and founder of Morgan Manufacturing Company, Black Mountain, North Carolina to design and make prototypes of twenty "tabletop" functional art objects. They were to be manufactured by Arturo Zablah's company, Industries Capri, S.A. located in San Salvador, El Savlador. These twenty original, functional sculptures included a wine chiller, liquor cabinet, candle sticks, mirrors, salt shaker and pepper mill, bowls, and what became one of Dan's signature pieces, a tabletop jewelry chest from his Piggy series.
