We are very excited to welcome another of our new additions to the team this fall, Ben!

Ben is a fourth year Biomedical Science: Medical and Veterinary Sciences major who is minoring in Nutrition at UNH. He is interested in combining his love for sciences with his interest in nutrition to analyze the interactions between physical exercise, fiber intake, and gut dysbiosis. After completing his bachelor's degree, he plans to continue his education to become a physical therapist.

We are so excited to welcome one of our newest lab members, Daisha!

Daisha is a fourth year Biomedical Science: Medical & Veterinary Sciences major with a pre-dental focus. She has joined the Dao Research Lab because of her interest in microbiology and her goals to learn more about the impact that nutrition has on gastrointestinal health. During her time with the lab, Daisha is striving to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between inflammation due to increased insulin resistance and gut microbiota composition. Thank you to our Research Coordinator, Megan Milligan!

A huge thank you and congratulations is due to the Dao Lab's Research Coordinator, Megan Milligan. Megan was recently accepted into a PhD program at Syracuse University and will be beginning her studies in the fall.

Over the past two years, she has been a vital member of the lab, starting all three of our studies and being involved in every aspect of lab administration. Congratulations Megan, and thank you so much for all that you did for the lab over the past two years!

Seeking Full-Time Bilingual Project Coordinator & Nutrition Educator

Summary of Position:
The project coordinator will assist in the implementation, data collection, and management of two ongoing research studies in the Bigornia and Dao Labs. One study will examine the relationship between body weight, fiber consumption, the gut microbiota, and health. The other project aims to develop culturally-tailored nutrition education for fish consumption. Both studies involve working with Hispanic adults residing in New Hampshire, primarily in the Cities of Nashua, Manchester, and Concord.

She is interested in combining her love of lab sciences with her passion for nutrition and accessible healthcare to generate research and knowledge about the linkage between proper nutrition and overall health outcomes, with a focus on neurodegenerative disorders.
