Jeff is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist with broad experience in forest and woodland systems in both North America and southern Africa, including plantations of pine and Eucalyptus. Spending nearly 7 years (2009-2016) in South Africa at the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute (FABI) and engaging with colleagues and collaborators from around the world has given him a global perspective on many aspects of life. Now back in the States permanently and building a research program at the University of New Hampshire, Jeff also maintains a formal linkage with University of Pretoria to facilitate ongoing collaboration with some great scientists and students in South Africa. His current projects are broadly focused on the ecology and evolution of insects and microbes in managed and unmanaged systems, including the consequences of anthropogenic climate change and biological invasion.
