Shaina Gates (b.1983) lives and works in Exeter, New Hampshire. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design for her BFA in Painting (2005), the School of Visual Arts NY for an MA (2008), and the University of Pennsylvania for her MFA (2016). Her studio practice is mainly based in painting and drawing, along with some experimental writing and 3-dimensional work. In 2019, she launched and solely managed a temporary gallery project, called “The Magenta Suite,” which focused on solo and 2-person shows for emerging artists. She also works as an adjunct instructor, teaching courses in Drawing and Contemporary Art. Shaina’s work has been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout New Hampshire, and Cape Cod, as well as New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.
