Before I signed up for SUST 401 I thought I had a good understanding of sustainability. I was quickly proven wrong. There was so much more to just the environmental part. After learning the three pillars it was interesting to see how interconnected everything is. Sustainability has its grand challenges that have no direct solutions. Keeping in mind the three pillars - environment, equity and economics we are able to come step closer to solving these problems. 

We took part in 21-Day Racial Equity challenge that encouraged us to reflect on racism in our food system and the world. The challenge really taught me the inequalities that are in out food system and in society. SUST was important to my journey through the SDM and for impacting my own personal choices.
