One of my SDM electives was Geography of the Natural Environment. The class went over basic processes of ecosystems and the Earth. As a business major, it was a good refresher on content I haven't seen since high school.

The course emphasized the importance of systems thinking. Though I saw this in 401 and 501, having it placed in a firmly environment context was important for me to gain a complete understanding of the concept.

The class also placed a solid foundation for future interactions with peers who approach work from a scientific background. Having a basic vocabulary and idea of how the planet operates gives me a leg up in collaborative and interdisciplinary situations.
