This capstone course was carefully designed to allow SDM students to explore local, real-life sustainability challenges and try our hand at developing solutions. In working to develop a sustainability tour for the University of New Hampshire, I was able to draw on my previous coursework. My group wanted to incorporate key sustainability principles into our tour and therefore prioritized stops that tie in all three pillars of sustainability, with a particular interest in highlighting social sustainability as it is often neglected by our university. Moreover, our focus on creating a tour accessible to all intended audiences stemmed from understanding the importance of both teaching sustainability to people of all disciplines as well as ensuring marginalized populations have equitable access to participate.
