My name is Andrea Scarfo and I am a senior studying economics and sustainability at the University of New Hampshire. I grew up in the town of Boxford, Massachusetts. In the fall of 2016, in my first semester at UNH, I became a leader in the New Hampshire Outing Club. Being a part of the NHOC truly shaped my college experience, and I found love for being an outdoor leader. I have led so many trips with the outing club, sharing the beauty of the outdoors with other UNH students from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, all the way to National Parks in Utah, and sandy beaches in California. I was chosen as president of the club my junior year, and continue to be an active member today. I am currently preparing and looking forward to my Spring Break NHOC trip out to the West Coast once again and to explore Arizona, Nevada, and California with 10 participants.
My love for the outdoors and outdoor recreation definitely drive my passion for sustainability--I want to be able to snowboard, surf, and hike for the rest of my life. I am entering a pivotal time in my life, and I am grateful that I have had the opportunity to participate in this awesome dual major. I know that wherever I end up after college, I will bring a valuable sustainability perspective and approach.
