By taking the Sustainability Capstone, I learned than I am capable. When I first registered for this course, I was intimidated and scared by it. It felt daunting. I knew that it involved research and, as a first generation college student, that felt foreign and new to me. I felt like I was not capable of it. However, I am now on the other side of it. I have (almost) completed this course. I have presented research at the Undergraduate Research Conference, specifically at the University-Wide Undergraduate Sustainability Research Symposium. Working with a local, small business (Jack's Pizza of Pittsfield, New Hampshire) outside of the University of New Hampshire gave me professional confidence that I did not have before. I will take this newfound professional confidence with me throughout my last academic year here at the University of New Hampshire and beyond. Additionally, working with the employees of Jack's Pizza and working within my group reinforced the value of interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity. The diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and ways of knowing was essential to the success of our Sustainability Capstone group project.
